New Consumer Regulations To Protect Airline Passengers’ Rights

In a few months, airline travelers will have some new federally regulated rules in place to protect their rights. NY1′s Valarie D’Elia filed the following report.

After one more summer of travel hassles, come September air passengers will be packing more rights in their luggage. The Department of Transportation recently enhanced airline consumer protections, addressing some long-standing concerns of air travelers.

Some of the notable improvements include creating four-hour limits on tarmac delays for international flights operated by a foreign airline or a domestic carrier flying overseas.

Currently, only domestic flights are subject to fines if passengers are not let off after three hours.

Additionally, trapped passengers are entitled to status updates at least every half hour, as well as food and water every two hours and access to…………… continues on NY1
